Covid-19 | Right Turn from the Left Lane

Into the dawn of April 19^th, Paul Revere galloped to alarm the local militias of the impending British invasion to seize weapons and ammunition at Lexington and Concord. Unfortunately, over hyped data from the CDC modeling of the day suggested a more dire message:

“The Zombies are coming! The Zombies are coming!”

…and the famed Minutemen of the Revolution retreated into self-quarantine and flipped on Netflix.

And the rest (as they say) is history: From then on, we would measure in meters, swill stale beer, and whine nasally about our crude colonial cousins.

America has always been at war with two viruses (neither of which is Covid-19): One is fear, the other is tyranny.

We rebelled against the King’s unelected unaccountable governors, for the right to be governed by our unelected unaccountable neighbors.

Apparently we lost.

And not once did these the sons of The Sons of Liberty think it necessary to surrender their freedoms in order to flatten some mystical curve.

Free men do not ask permission. Or forgiveness.

What a nation of pussies we’ve become.

Faster than a democrat can steal an election, we went from: Lines of bread waiting for people, to lines of people waiting for bread. Or rather… lines of people waiting for toilet paper.

In our free fall from freedom, we flew past European Socialism and landed in Banana Republic. (Betcha this isn’t what your kid’s teacher had in mind when presenting The Virtues of Socialism in the State’s Department of Re-education warehouses.) Maybe it’s good they closed. Maybe they should stay closed.

What is Socialism but the State’s response to Covid-19?

Rights restricted
Freedoms curtailed
Gun shops closed
Houses of Worship shuttered

…but the pot shops are Open.

And liberals playing God by reclassifying workers (essential vs. non-essential) according to their ability to fulfill the needs of the State.

Signs greeting errant travelers to the Garden State should read:

Welcome to New Jersey: The first state to ratify the Bill of Rights. And the last state to recognize it.

Yeah, be careful what you wish for. Socialism and tyranny are two sides to the same counterfeit coin. Fidel, the savior of his people, confiscated firearms condemning his people to a life of poverty. Forever.

To borrow a bumper quip…

Covid control isn’t about Covid. It’s about control.

Sure… after all this, the Bill of Rights will still exist (on paper). But any right, which can be rescinded by the State, or exercised only with permission from the State, is not a right. It’s a privilege.

So, that we may preserve our privileges, let us bow our heads and pray…
